Walks and trips from pension Lesní Zátiší, Benecko, Krkonoše

VIEW-TOWER ŽALÝ

In the altitude of over 1,000 m above sea-level and at a good weather, a panoramic view at a west part of Krkonoše, or eventually at Česká kotlina is awaiting you. Description signs on a view-tower’s gallery make the orientation easier. The building itself is very interesting and for children there is an eagle owl that guards the stairs of the view-tower.   A sierra trail up to the view-tower offers a great view. Of course you can get refreshment at that place.

WAY UP TO THE VIEW-TOWER

From Lesní zátiší you will go through a forest way. After that you lock on to a forest path straight up to the view-tower. In case of a less favorable weather, it is possible to go in a direction to the hotel Zlatá vyhlídka and along the marked asphalt road further up to the view-tower. From the view-tower you set off on a sierra mountain trail direct to the hotel Žalý and Kubát and then back into Lesní zátiší. The way can be managed also by children as the difference in altitude is gentle. With children count with ca. 30 – 90 minutes of walking in total.

PERMANENT SALES EXHIBITION OF WOOD TOYS

The exhibition is in a stylish environment of a house next to the primary school in Vítkovice. The tour is for free. Prices of the individual exhibits go on from ten Czech crowns and more. In comparison to usual shops, the prices of these products are significantly lower. If you like natural materials, you should not let the seeing of the exhibition go. Open is daily up to 5 p.m.

WAY TO VÍTKOVICE

From the central parking lot Benecko, you go according to the signs in a direction to chalet „Na Špici“ and then you continue along an asphalt road in a direction into a valley. A picturesque landscape edged by numerous streams is a reward itself. After you reach Vítkovice, continue up to a center. You can also perform this walk, even if the weather is not so favorable. At maximum expect 1.5 hour of a comfortable walk.

CHALET POHLEDNIČKA

According to the signs leading along an asphalt road from the central parking lot, you can reach the chalet in less than an hour and without differences in altitude. The chalet rightly got the name “View card”. The hike can also be performed with a stroller. As a reward you can see views that are typical for this part of Krkonoše. Children will certainly appreciate a local sundial as well.

HORSE RIDING

Not far from pension Lesní zátiší, there is a Kněžická chalet where you can see and ride Thoroughbreds. A little bit more far away from Lesní zátiší, the farm Janova Hora is located. There you can take a one-hour guided ride through wild nature or just a round ride within the farm which is more suitable for children. This possibility is also cheaper.

KNĚŽICKÁ CHALET

To reach Kněžnická chalet it takes 90 minutes of walking from pension Lesní zátiší. Firstly along a road towards Vrchlabí and afterwards along a forest track which leads directly to the chalet.

FARM JANOVA HORA

If you go from Lesní zátiší towards hotel Kubát and further on, you can reach a sharp turn where hotel Belevue is located. Around the hotel, there is a direct asphalt road that leads to crossroad “Rovinka”. Here you can see clear signs leading to the farm. You can expect approximately 1.5 hour (maximal 2 hour) long hike along the forest asphalt road.

PEAK ŠEŘÍN

In case you like mysterious and mystical places, you should not skip a visit of peak Šeřín. This unique configuration of rocks is a typical place of sacrifice. In addition, its atmosphere is supported by a mountain landscape devastated by humans. Mild rain together with a foggy weather just intensifies your feeling.

WAY TO PEAK ŠEŘÍN

Walk towards crossroad “Rovinka” (described above). Then continue along a forest track which lies on a contour line. Expect a walk of two hours in total.

CASTLE RUINS

If you head out from central parking lot Benecko towards Polednička chalet and continue straight, you reach Horní Štěpanice. This village has kept its mountain look far more than Benecko. The castle ruins are situated optically “under” this village. This castle played an important role during the Sweden war. The interior of a local church is interesting as well. From Lesní zátiší expect a total walk of less than three hours.

BOBSLED ŠPINDLERŮV MLÝN

To miss this rarity would be a shame. More than 1,400 m long track leads through a special corridor. You can ride either slowly or fast. This adventure for adults, children, or eventually altogether, brings you a really pleasant experience even in a winter season.

WAY TO ŠPINDLERŮV MLÝN

The shortest way to Špindlerův mlýn leads through crossroad “Rovinka” along an asphalt road right up to the center. It is a comfortable walk. However, you should expect a ca. three-hour-long walk. You can go back to Benecko through Vrchlabí by bus. The bus from Špindlerův Mlýn to Vrchlabí goes every hour. From Vrchlabí to Benecko, you can take a bus as well or go on foot (a one-hour walk).

KRKONOŠSKÉ MUSEUM VRCHLABÍ, MUSEUM JILEMNICE

In case of the unfavorable weather, we recommend you to visit these museums. Neatly organized exhibits offer you an insight into the mountains you have visited and into the lifestyle of locals as well. You can reach Vrchlabí also on foot on a low-frequented road. In this case expect a little bit more than one hour of walking.

MOUNTAIN BIKE TRIPS

The cheapest mountain bike rental service is situated in a shopping center. You will be equipped with bum bag, lock, gluing, and another useful stuff. Mountain bikes for children are a matter of course. If you decide for a mountain bike trip you can ride for example to Špindlerům Mlýn where you can take a lift up to peak “Medvědín”. The lift is adapted for the transportation of mountain bikes. From Medvědín it is not a problem to perform a ridge tour towards Vrbatova chalet, Labská chalet, spring of Elbe, and eventually towards Sněžné jámy. A way back to Benecko means at first almost 11 km down the hill through Vítkovice and then up the hill to Benecko and Lesní zátiší. Of course you can choose other routes as well. It is possible either along contour lines without differences in altitude or more demanding routes through mountain terrain.

INFORMATION CENTER

We offer you lots of free time activities which you can do during your stay in pension Lesní zátiší. You will be provided more information in information center Flora which is situated right next to Café Harlekýn on the central parking lot. In this complex you can also visit a casino, a bowling place, a post office, a cosmetic saloon, a massage saloon, a hair-dresser, a grocery store etc.
You can also visit a sauna in hotel Žalý or eventually rent a tennis court.
